Privacy Policy
ChatFold is a free Chrome extension for Google Gemini and ChatGpt. This policy explains what data we collect (none), how it's stored, and your rights as a user.
What data we collect
We collect no personal data whatsoever. ChatFold does not:
- Create or require any account
- Send any data to any external server
- Track your usage or behavior
- Use cookies or analytics
- Display or serve ads
- Access your browsing history, clipboard, or any other browser data beyond gemini/chatgpt
How your bookmarks are stored
All data created by ChatFold (bookmarks, folders, collapse states, pin states) is stored exclusively in your browser using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API.
This data:
- Never leaves your device
- Is never transmitted to any server (ours or anyone else's)
- Persists across browser restarts, on your device only
- Is not synced across devices in this version
Permissions we request
ChatFold requests two permissions:
- storage — to save your bookmarks and settings locally in your browser
- host permission for gemini.google.com and chat.openai.com — to inject the sidebar UI into Gemini and ChatGPT conversations
We request no other permissions. ChatFold cannot access any other websites you visit.
Third-party services
ChatFold uses no third-party services, SDKs, APIs, or analytics platforms. There are no third parties involved in the operation of this extension.
Children's privacy
ChatFold does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children. Since we collect no data at all, there is nothing to address specifically regarding children's privacy.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how ChatFold handles data, we will update this page and note the date of the change at the top. Significant changes will also be communicated via the Chrome Web Store listing.
